West Olive Dental offers a variety of teeth whitening options to fit your lifestyle. We believe teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to enhance your smile and give you that extra “pop” that you are looking for.

Foods, beverages, and tobacco can change the color of your teeth, as your teeth become more absorbent to stains as we age. Medications such as tetracycline and genetics play a large role in tooth color also.

If you are considering whitening your teeth, Dr. Lori Holcomb will determine whether you are a candidate for bleaching and what type of bleaching system would provide the best results for you.

No one can adequately predict how much lighter your teeth will become. The success rate depends upon the type of stain involved and your compliance. Whitening does not lighten fillings, crowns or bridges.

Most patients may experience slight tooth and/or gum sensitivity, which will be resolved when treatments ends.

Teeth Whitening Options

At Home Teeth Whitening

This is the option that we believe works the best for most patients. We make trays that fit over your teeth and into which a whitening gel is placed. The trays are custom made to ensure the correct amount of whitening gel is used and that your teeth are properly covered. The trays are lightweight and comfortable so that you can whiten while you are awake or sleeping. This system typically requires 2-3 weeks to complete. This longer, slower whitening usually causes less sensitivity than the faster In Office Whitening.

In Office Whitening

This option allows for faster whitening with a stronger percent of bleach than what you can use at home. With in office whitening, we recommend you also have custom trays made for follow up bleaching at home so that your teeth will appear lighter for longer. This option typically may have more tooth or gum sensitivity than the more gradual At Home Whitening.

On the Go Prefilled Disposable Trays

We recommend these prefilled disposable trays for post orthodontic patients and people with less severe staining, many times for the teen group.  Wear time ranges from 15-60 minutes.
